Commissioned as a bespoke piece, this coffee table was designed to appear light and elegant while remaining structurally robust. The design highlights the natural beauty of English ash, expressed through clean lines and quiet simplicity. Strips of English ash were carefully glued into a single board, creating a unified surface with subtle grain variations. An angled cut along the edge enhances the table’s slender profile.
The surface was routed flat, then brought to life with the precision of a bench plane, exposing the ash’s natural character.
For strength and longevity, hidden steel sleeves were integrated to accommodate natural wood movement.
Additional metal reinforcement was discreetly fixed into the feet, maintaining the table’s delicate proportions without compromising stability.
The finished piece is modern, airy, and refined, yet designed to withstand the demands of everyday use.
